A 35-year-old woman was brutally attacked and raped in the Bronx on August 5 after a man approached her to ask for directions, according to police. The incident occurred around 1:00 a.m. when the victim was walking in the area.

The suspect, identified as 38-year-old Papa Diop, allegedly lured the woman into a secluded area after asking for directions. He then forced himself on her, committing a heinous act of violence before fleeing the scene on foot.

Fortunately, the victim was able to receive medical attention and was transported to the hospital in stable condition. However, the suspect remained at large until his arrest on Saturday.

Diop’s capture was made possible after a wanted photo was published, leading to his identification and subsequent arrest. He has since been charged with first-degree rape, a serious crime that carries severe consequences.
