A recent police phone call obtained by Truth Voices sheds light on a bizarre incident in Springfield, Ohio, where a resident reported a group of Haitian migrants carrying geese in the area. The call, made on August 26, was placed by a local resident who claimed to have seen four individuals, two men and two women, each carrying a single goose while walking on a trail.

The caller, who was on his way to a job orientation, described the scene to the non-emergency dispatcher, stating, “I was trying to get my phone out and get to my orientation on time, and I saw that, I’m like, ‘Yeah, this has got to be reported’.” The caller estimated that the migrants were located at the intersection of Water and Warder Street, a location confirmed by a police report.

The incident has come to light amidst growing concerns among Springfield residents about the influx of over 20,000 migrants from Haiti, who have put a strain on local resources. At a recent city commission meeting, residents shared disturbing accounts of migrant behavior, including harassment, destruction of property, and alleged animal cruelty.

One resident, Anthony Harris, expressed his frustration, saying, “These Haitians are running into trash cans, they’re running into buildings, they’re flipping cars in the middle of the street… They’re in the park, grabbing up ducks by the neck and cutting their heads off and eating them.” Harris also claimed that the local welfare office was being overrun by non-citizen new arrivals.

Another resident, Noel, described her neighborhood as “so unsafe” since the surge of Haitians, saying, “I have men that cannot speak English in my front yard screaming at me, throwing mattresses in my front yard, throwing trash in my front yard… I don’t understand what you expect of us as citizens, who’s protecting us?”
