A Texas-based general surgeon who revealed that a Houston children’s hospital was secretly continuing a child gender transition program faces four felony counts from President Joe Biden’s Department of Justice for speaking out.
Shortly after Texas Gov. Greg Abbott ordered his state’s Department of Family and Protective Services to investigate gender transitioning in children as abuse in 2022, Texas Children’s Hospital — the largest children’s hospital in the U.S. — claimed that it would no longer offer such procedures to pediatric patients.
However, as the 33-year-old whistleblower Dr. Eithan Haim discovered, at least three physicians continued to perform these procedures on children as young as 11 after the program was supposedly stopped. The hospital also promoted procedures involving the removal of breasts and genitals of physically healthy individuals.
A report from City Journal’s Christopher Rufo, which Haim claims to have sourced, detailed these findings. Simultaneously, in May 2023, the Texas legislature passed a law banning gender experimentation on minors.
One month later, federal agents made a “highly atypical and aggressive show of force” at Haim’s apartment. They announced in a letter signed by U.S. Attorney Tina Ansari of the Southern District of Texas that he was under investigation for his supposed role in leaking “medical records.”
Haim’s lawyers detailed a long list of misconduct by Ansari during the investigation, which included failing to review evidence before assisting the Biden administration in attempting to charge the surgeon.
Even so, Ansari moved forward with plans to prosecute Haim. Most recently, the surgeon learned from U.S. marshals that he must appear in court next week to respond to a four-count felony indictment for “violating HIPAA.”
Haim stated on his Give Send Go page that he does not regret publicizing Texas Children’s actions but admitted that it has cost him “the entirety of our retirement, investments, savings, and almost all of our disposable income to pay legal bills.”
“I knew that speaking out would put myself and my family at great risk, but after seeing the extent of the corruption firsthand, it became clear that silence was not an option,” he wrote.
Punishable by Political Prosecution
The Department of Justice under Biden has repeatedly targeted pro-lifers, parents, and advocates of election integrity. It has refused to protect Republican-nominated Supreme Court justices from influence campaigns and has tried to penalize Republican states for protecting born and unborn children.
The targeting of a surgeon who tried to protect children from irreversible damage underscores this trend.
If a Texas surgeon who exposed a gender transition program—outlawed by the state—can face politically motivated prosecution involving misconduct because the Biden administration wants to push its transgender agenda, no one is safe.
Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra confirmed this when he admitted during a congressional hearing that the Biden administration planned to defund hospitals with religious objections to gender transition procedures.
“If a health care facility is violating the law and not providing the required services, they are not entitled to federal funding,” Becerra said.
When Republican Rep. Mary Miller asked Becerra if this applies to doctors, Becerra ignored the administration’s attack on conscience protections and claimed that providers are shielded and “not required” to perform these procedures.
For Biden, political opposition is not limited to former President Donald Trump or others who may hinder his reelection. The Department of Justice under his administration aims to target dissenters across the board.
Protesting in front of abortion clinics, opposing certain symbols, advocating for parental control over educational content, or insisting that there are only two genders can lead to severe consequences.
Individuals like Haim, who challenge the regime’s agenda, may face punishment beyond legal bounds, sending a clear message: dissent will not be tolerated.
