Arkansas State Police apprehended a shooter who, during a violent incident at a Mad Butcher grocery store in Fordyce, left three people dead and 10 others injured. The shooting unfolded at around 11:30 a.m. on Friday, approximately 65 miles south of Little Rock.

As law enforcement responded to the situation, two officers received non-life-threatening injuries after exchanging gunfire with the shooter, according to Arkansas State Police secretary of public safety and director Mike Hagar. At least one of the eight others injured is in critical condition. Two law enforcement officers were among those wounded.

A witness told Fox News that they witnessed a medevac helicopter land at the local hospital and reported seeing multiple agencies working to uncover the circumstances of the shooting. Another witness stated that the shooter had “destroyed a community today.”

She praised the “quick and heroic action” taken by law enforcement and first responders. Sen. John Boozman and Sen. Tom Cotton also expressed their condolences through social media posts.
