AOC Jokes About Trump’s New York Restrictions: ‘Like a Legal Ankle Bracelet’

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) mocked former President Donald Trump’s inability to campaign outside New York because of his legal problems.

The firebrand representative from the Bronx criticized the former president a day before he makes a trip into her district for a rally this week.

“The man practically has the legal version of an ankle bracelet around him,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “And he can’t leave the five boroughs because he always has to be in court.”

Trump is facing four criminal cases, including a hush money case in Manhattan that has required him to be in the city every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday since April 15.

Ocasio-Cortez’s comments about Trump’s legal hurdles set off a storm of ridicule from Republicans who said her comments were an admission of election interference designed to keep Trump from winning the 2024 election.

“AOC admits the Democrat’s Lawfare against Trump is like an electronic ankle monitor limiting his ability to campaign,” Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) wrote on X.

Ocasio-Cortez is facing a primary challenge for the first time since 2020. Her opponent, Wall Street investor Marty Dolan, believes the congresswoman is too radical to represent New York’s 14th Congressional District, stating in an interview last month that her “support in Queens is evaporating.”

Last year, the GOP flipped a local seat in the heart of Ocasio-Cortez’s district. Kristy Marmorato became the first Bronx Republican to win a seat on the city council since 1977.
