Former quality auditor at Boeing supplier Spirit AeroSystems, Joshua Dean, passed away on Tuesday after battling a sudden infection, as reported by the Seattle Times. Dean, who was 45 years old and previously in good health, had raised concerns about manufacturing defects on the 737 MAX, leading to his termination in April 2023. He believed his firing was in retaliation for speaking out and was represented by a law firm that also represented another Boeing whistleblower, John “Mitch” Barnett, who tragically died in an apparent suicide in March. Barnett had alleged retaliation from Boeing for complaints about quality lapses. The legal battle against Boeing continued for Barnett before his death.
