A recent YouGov/Economist poll revealed that the majority of Americans feel that President Joe Biden’s America is “out of control.” The poll, which surveyed 1,755 Americans, found that 68 percent believe things are out of control, while only 16 percent think things are under control.
This sentiment comes amid anti-Israel protests on college campuses, record-high inflation, and an ongoing illegal immigration crisis at the southern border. Democrats, Republicans, and independents alike share the belief that the country is out of control, with 48 percent of Democrats, 90 percent of Republicans, and 70 percent of independents holding this view.
In addition to concerns about the country being off track, the poll also revealed that 66 percent of Americans believe the country is headed in the wrong direction. President Biden’s approval rating in the poll was at 37 percent, with 58 percent of respondents giving his performance negative marks.
The top issue for voters in the poll was inflation and prices, with 23 percent selecting it as the most important issue. President Biden received low approval ratings for his handling of inflation, with only 29 percent approving of his approach.
The poll was conducted from April 28-30, 2024, and has a margin of error of ± 2.9 percentage points.
