During a mental health forum at the Carter Center in Atlanta, Georgia, Jason Carter provided an update on his grandfather, former President Jimmy Carter’s health. Despite being in hospice since last February, Jason mentioned that his grandfather is doing okay but is nearing the end of his life. He shared a recent visit to see his grandfather in Plains, Georgia, where they watched an Atlanta Braves game together.

As the oldest living president, Carter has faced various health challenges including metastatic brain cancer, liver cancer, and brain surgery after a fall in 2019. His wife of 77 years, Rosalynn Carter, a strong mental health advocate, passed away last November. She created the President’s Commission on Mental Health during her time as first lady, leading to increased research funding and improved access to mental healthcare.

Despite the recent loss of Rosalynn, the Rosalynn Carter Georgia Mental Health Forum continued, with Jason expressing gratitude for the outpouring of support from attendees and people worldwide. Jason also emphasized his grandfather’s strong faith journey as he approaches the end of his life.
