A shooting incident at a south Fresno gas station left a young man in critical condition after a violent confrontation with three masked assailants early Saturday morning.

The incident unfolded around 1 a.m. when police responded to a 911 call reporting a gunshot victim at the Shell Gas Station on the corner of Maple and Jensen avenues. Upon arrival, officers found a man in his 20s lying next to his vehicle, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body.

The victim was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where he remains in critical condition. Investigators say the shooting occurred after a physical altercation between the victim and three masked men, who were standing near two SUVs parked at the gas station.

According to detectives, the confrontation escalated into a violent fight, during which multiple shots were fired, hitting the victim and damaging the exterior of the gas station building. The suspects then fled the scene in the two SUVs, leaving behind a trail of chaos and destruction.

The Fresno Police Department’s Felony Assault Unit has taken over the investigation and is working to identify the suspects. No arrests have been made yet, and no suspect information has been released to the public.

If anyone has any information about the incident, they are urged to contact the Fresno Police Department at 559-621-7000.
