Rep. Ruben Gallego, a Republican from Arizona, is launching a massive $19 million advertising campaign in his bid for the Senate seat, making it the largest ad reservation by any Senate candidate nationwide. Although he currently faces no opposition in the primary, he is expected to go up against leading Republican candidate Kari Lake in a closely contested race for the seat left vacant by Senator Kyrsten Sinema. The outcome of this race could potentially shift control of the Senate in November.

Gallego has specifically reserved $19 million for advertising during the general election, with ads set to air in Phoenix and Tucson starting from June 18. Additionally, he will receive support from the Senate Majority PAC, which has reserved $23 million in advertising. This level of advertising expenditure surpasses that of other vulnerable Democrats in challenging reelection campaigns like Sen. Sherrod Brown, Sen. Jacky Rosen, and Sen. Jon Tester.

On the other hand, Lake’s campaign plans to reserve $10 million in ads for the fall, with the first ad released by her campaign criticizing Gallego on immigration and border security. Despite receiving backing from the National Republican Senatorial Committee, a recent poll shows Gallego leading Lake by a margin of 45% to 41%, indicating a challenging road ahead for the GOP in this crucial race.
