McDonald’s Considering Introducing $5 Value Meal Due to Decrease in Sales

McDonald’s is exploring the idea of adding a $5 meal option to its menu in an effort to attract customers back despite increasing prices. This meal option would include a choice between a McChicken sandwich or a McDouble cheeseburger, along with a side of french fries and a soft drink, as reported by Bloomberg.

All four items in this $5 meal option are currently available on McDonald’s $1-2-3 Dollar menu, which has faced criticism for not having any items priced at $1. The fast-food chain has been faced with complaints from customers about rising prices, and executives have promised to offer more deals to address these concerns.

Despite a 1.9% increase in sales between January and March, McDonald’s missed the forecasted 2.1% increase. CEO Chris Kempczinski acknowledged that consumers are becoming more selective with their spending habits, especially lower-income individuals who are seeking value in their purchases.

This move by McDonald’s to introduce a $5 meal option follows in the footsteps of Wendy’s, which already offers a $5 “Biggie Bag” that includes a burger, small fries, chicken nuggets, and a drink. The Truth Voices reached out to McDonald’s for further comment on this potential menu addition.
