Apple has once again wowed consumers with its latest iPad Pro release. The company’s flashy livestreamed event showcased the new tablet, boasting new features like OLED display technology, a larger screen size, and an upgraded M4 chipset. While these enhancements are certainly exciting, they may not be as groundbreaking as they seem.

In the last two years, Apple’s iPad Pro updates have been less than revolutionary. The 2021 version introduced the M1 chip and a mini-LED display, while the 2022 model featured an M2 chip and minor software updates. The latest iteration, set to launch on May 15, includes the aforementioned new features along with a thinner design and compatibility with new accessories like the Magic Keyboard case and Apple Pencil Pro.

While these changes are certainly welcome, some critics argue that they are not as significant as Apple would like us to believe. The enhancements focus mainly on external hardware improvements, with the M4 chip providing faster CPU and GPU performance but lacking any major standout features. Overall, the updates to the iPad Pro are necessary for a high-end tablet but may not be as groundbreaking as some had hoped.

In terms of design, Apple has finally revamped the tablet’s chassis, offering a choice between an 11-inch or a slightly larger 13-inch display. The new model features OLED panels on both sizes, boasting a new display technology called Tandem OLED for a brighter screen. Compared to mini-LED, OLED delivers better contrast ratios, deeper blacks, and more vibrant colors. The Ultra Retina XDR screen can reach up to 1,600 nits of peak brightness in HDR, making it a standout feature of the new iPad Pro.

Overall, Apple’s latest iPad Pro release has some impressive upgrades, particularly in terms of its display technology and design. While the enhancements may not be groundbreaking, they are sure to delight fans of the brand.
