The Athens, AL Police Department is currently investigating an alleged attack against Tara Johnson, a Trump volunteer, outside a local Republican Party headquarters. The incident is said to be politically motivated.

According to the Alabama Republican Party, Tara Johnson, a dedicated Republican volunteer, was assaulted outside the Limestone County GOP Trump Headquarters over the weekend. Despite facing physical challenges due to health issues, Johnson is the lead volunteer at the headquarters, as stated by Alabama Republican Party communications director Jeannie Negrón Burniston.

The assault reportedly took place in Johnson’s vehicle, where the attacker physically assaulted her, causing injuries. The Alabama Republican Party chairman, John Wahl, condemned the attack as a disgraceful act of violence that has no place in society. He described Johnson as a kind and generous person who always helps others in need. The Athens Police Department is investigating the incident, urging anyone with information to come forward.

Wahl called for accountability for those responsible for the attack and emphasized the importance of civility, respect, and peaceful political engagement. He also called on the Democratic Party and mainstream media to stop using inflammatory rhetoric that incites violence against Donald Trump and his supporters. He argued that demonizing political opponents only serves to divide society.
