Parents in Minnesota are being charged for the fentanyl overdose death of their one-year-old baby girl in December of 2023, as reported by KROC News. St. Paul police responded to a call about a child not breathing on December 1, 2023, and found the baby girl in distress. The baby’s mother, Tessa Jean Vorlicky, fled the scene but was later apprehended. Tragically, the baby was declared brain dead on December 5.

During a search of the home, authorities found drugs and drug paraphernalia. It was also discovered that a hold had been placed on the baby at birth due to Vorlicky’s drug use during labor. An autopsy revealed that the baby died from acute fentanyl toxicity, with other drugs found in her system as well.

Vorlicky is facing two counts of second degree manslaughter, while the child’s father, Derrick Marshawn Harrison, is charged with felony child endangerment. Harrison admitted to knowing about Vorlicky’s drug use and the potential dangers it posed to their child.

Vorlicky is being held on $150,000 bail, and Harrison is being held on $50,000 bail as they face the consequences of their actions in this tragic case.
