Warsaw Shopping Center Devastated by Fire

0:00

In Warsaw, Poland, a fire broke out on Sunday morning at The Marywilska 44 shopping complex in the Bialoleka district. The fire brigade reported that more than 80% of the complex was engulfed in flames, with 50 teams, including specialists in chemical and environmental rescue, working to contain the fire. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported, and authorities sent out a text message warning residents to stay home and keep their windows closed.

Footage from TVN24 showed thick black smoke billowing from the area. The shopping center is owned by Mirbud, an industrial construction company listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. It is worth noting that shopping centers and large shops are typically closed on Sundays due to a trade ban, except for a few Sundays each year for special events like Christmas and Easter.

Residents of Warsaw and the surrounding area were urged to stay indoors and avoid the area as firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze.
