Walz’s Gaffes Spark Mockery and Social Media Frenzy

Former President Donald Trump wasted no time in taking a jab at Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz following the vice presidential debate, seizing on a peculiar comment made by the Democrat. In response to a question about his stance on assault weapons, Walz claimed to have become friends with “school shooters,” a statement that raised eyebrows and sparked widespread criticism.

Trump quickly pounced on the opportunity, sharing a graphic of a mock campaign yard sign that read “Trump/Vance ’24: NOT FRIENDS WITH SCHOOL SHOOTERS.” The image was a clear dig at Walz’s bizarre boast, which many interpreted as a tone-deaf and insensitive remark.

Walz’s debate performance was marred by several awkward moments, including his struggles to explain a disputed claim about being in Hong Kong during the 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre. When confronted with reports contradicting his story, Walz sheepishly admitted to being a “knucklehead” who sometimes gets “caught up in the rhetoric.”

The debate also spawned a wave of memes and jokes on social media, with many poking fun at Walz’s gaffes and perceived biases of the CBS News moderators.

One memorable moment came when Republican J.D. Vance shot a knowing glance at the camera, which quickly became meme fodder.

Other targets of ridicule included Walz’s infamous signing of a law requiring menstrual products in boys’ bathrooms and Kamala Harris’ decision to choose Walz as her running mate over Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro.
