13-Year-Old Girl Allegedly Shot During Car Theft

Chicago police have reported that a 13-year-old girl was shot by the owner of a car she was allegedly trying to steal on Tuesday morning.

According to ABC 7, the owner shot at the girl and a 14-year-old boy who was with her, resulting in the girl being hit in the right side of her body. She was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.

The sister of the car owner spoke with CBS News, stating that her sister caught the two young kids stealing her car and breaking into it. The owner, who is a security guard with a Firearm Owner’s Identification card, took action to protect her property.

Both the 13-year-old girl and the 14-year-old boy have been charged as juveniles with attempting to possess a stolen vehicle and criminal damage to property worth less than $500, as reported by the Chicago Tribune.
