CNN has issued an on-air apology for using manipulated photos of former President Donald Trump and conservative activist Laura Loomer in multiple segments on Friday and Saturday.
According to a video posted by Loomer on X, the network acknowledged that the images were “digitally altered” by a third party and should not have been used. The CNN host stated, “We regret the error and apologize for any confusion or misinformation that may have been caused.”
Loomer has been vocal about her outrage over the incident, criticizing CNN host Anderson Cooper for allegedly sending a female colleague to apologize on his behalf. Loomer took to X to express her frustration, writing, “If you do not issue a retraction in writing on X for showing fake and photoshopped pics of me and President Trump in an effort to spew a sick, misogynistic, and defamatory attack against me, I will sue you… How much of a coward do you have to be to use fake pics to defame me and @realDonaldTrump and then not apologize yourself?”
Loomer also threatened to sue CNN, just as she plans to sue comedian Bill Maher, over the alleged defamation. She demanded that CNN issue a written retraction and apologize on-air, warning that she would take legal action if they failed to do so.
The incident has sparked controversy, with many questioning the network’s journalistic standards and accuracy. Loomer’s response has also drawn attention to the issue of media accountability and the consequences of spreading misinformation.
