Federal authorities have arrested the son of the man accused of attempting to harm former President Donald Trump, charging him with possession and receipt of child sexual abuse material.

Oran Alexander Routh, whose father Ryan Routh is currently facing gun charges related to the alleged attempt on Trump’s life, was taken into custody after a search of his Greensboro, North Carolina, home uncovered hundreds of files containing child sexual abuse content.

According to court documents, the FBI discovered videos and chat logs from a messaging app commonly used by individuals who share and distribute child pornography. The files, which include videos from a known child pornography series produced outside of North Carolina, depict minors engaging in sex acts, authorities said.

The investigation, which began after law enforcement officials identified videos sent to Routh in July, also uncovered chats from the messaging application. The arrest was first reported by ABC News.

Oran Routh’s arrest comes on the heels of his father’s alleged attempt to harm Trump at the former president’s West Palm Beach, Florida, golf course on September 15. Ryan Routh, 58, allegedly pointed a rifle through a tree line at Trump, who was playing golf at the time. No shots were fired during the incident.

Ryan Routh appeared in federal court on Monday, where he was denied bond on a pair of gun charges. Prosecutors have indicated that they will seek a grand jury indictment on a more serious charge of attempted assassination.
