Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas recently addressed the criticism he has been facing in light of reports about gifts from a friend and his involvement in cases related to the January 6 riot at the Capitol.
During a judicial conference in Alabama, Thomas spoke about the negativity and lies targeting him and his wife, Virginia Thomas, over the past few years.
Despite the controversies, Thomas emphasized that they choose not to focus on the negativity. As Supreme Court justices typically do not speak publicly, Thomas’s comments were seen as rare.
He emphasized that they try to ignore their critics and understand that they cannot be changed unless they allow it.
Thomas, who was appointed by former President George H.W. Bush in 1991, is the oldest and longest-serving justice on the current Supreme Court.
