Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s popularity is increasing in Israel as the conflict with Hamas escalates, based on recent poll results. The survey conducted by Direct Polls and published by Israel’s Channel 14 indicates that Netanyahu’s Likud Party would secure 25 mandates if elections were held now, one of its highest numbers since the October 7 attack on Jews, the most severe since the Holocaust.

In a head-to-head matchup with his rival Benny Gantz, Netanyahu is favored by 46% of the sample compared to Gantz’s 33%. Gantz’s National Unity Party received 23 mandates in Channel 14’s latest poll.

Amid Republican criticism towards the Biden administration for withholding ammunition from Israel in its fight against Hamas, former President Donald Trump accused Biden of siding with Hamas terrorists. The Biden administration has confirmed withholding bombs from Israel, citing concerns about the ongoing conflict in Rafah.

Netanyahu and Israeli leaders remain determined to defeat Hamas, emphasizing that Israel will continue military operations against the terror group even without international support. Netanyahu reiterated Israel’s readiness to confront Hamas alone if necessary, echoing the unity and determination from the country’s war of independence.

The sentiment of standing strong against global opposition has been echoed by Israeli leaders, underscoring the importance of taking action in Gaza, especially in places like Rafah, to dismantle Hamas’s military capabilities. Israel is currently engaged in a war against Hamas in response to the brutal October 7 attack, which was the deadliest against Jewish people since the Holocaust.
