New data suggests that Democrats are losing their edge over Republicans in mail-in voting requests for the 2024 presidential election. A chart compiled by Eric Daugherty, assistant news director at Florida’s Voice, reveals a downward trend in mail-in ballot requests from Democrats in key battleground states such as Florida, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania.
According to Daugherty’s chart, which cites data from Michael Pruser of DecisionDeskHQ and John Couvillon of JMC Analytics and Polling, Democrats in Florida had a significant lead in mail-in ballot requests in 2020, with 1,050,075 requests compared to 891,537 for Republicans. However, as of the current date, Democrats have only received 77,077 requests, while Republicans have received 48,510.
In Pennsylvania, Democrats have received 841,428 requests for mail-in ballots, while Republicans have received 347,270. In North Carolina, Democrats received 669,523 absentee ballot requests in the 2020 presidential election, while Republicans had 288,478.
Pruser’s data also shows that in the 2020 presidential election, Democrats in Pennsylvania received 1,940,836 absentee ballot requests, while Republicans received 772,318. In Florida, Democrats received 2,189,710 mail-in vote ballots from people who had voted, while Republicans received 1,506,223.
Daugherty noted that Democrats in North Carolina will need a strong turnout, often referred to as a “blue wave,” in order to win the state in the upcoming presidential election.
