A 49-year-old illegal alien from El Salvador, Elmer Sola, has been accused of committing heinous sex crimes against children on the island of Nantucket, Massachusetts. Sola allegedly crossed the US-Mexico border undetected, joining the ranks of millions of “got-aways” living in American communities without being apprehended by Border Patrol agents.
According to authorities, Sola was arrested in August on Nantucket and charged with three counts of aggravated child rape and eight counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14 years old. The alleged crimes have sent shockwaves through the affluent island community.
Sola’s case has raised concerns about the porous US-Mexico border, with estimates suggesting that over two million undocumented immigrants have entered the country undetected during the Biden-Harris administration.
This month, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents took Sola into custody, and he is currently being held pending deportation proceedings. ICE officials have vowed to take action against individuals who pose a threat to public safety, particularly children.
“Elmer Sola’s alleged crimes are a stark reminder of the dangers posed by individuals who enter our country illegally and commit heinous acts against our most vulnerable citizens,” said ICE official Todd Lyons. “We will continue to work tirelessly to identify and remove such threats from our communities, ensuring the safety and well-being of our neighborhoods.”
