During an interview on Bloomberg’s “Balance of Power,” Rep. John Garamendi (D-CA) expressed America’s desire to remain Israel’s strongest ally. However, he also emphasized that the Biden administration, along with himself, strongly disagrees with Israel’s actions in the Gaza war. Garamendi warned that if Israel continues its current course of action despite American opposition, there will be consequences both in Congress and from the administration.
Garamendi raised concerns about the use of offensive weapons by Israel in a manner he deemed improper and inhumane, leading to a pause in weapon supplies from the US. He stressed that while Israel has the right to self-defense, it cannot do so at the expense of creating a humanitarian crisis. Garamendi also cautioned against Israel disregarding the United States, emphasizing the long-standing alliance between the two countries.
