Trump accused Smith and his team of evidence tampering and demanded that the case be dropped immediately.
Legal scholar Jonathan Turley pointed out that the FBI had staged photos of documents scattered on the floor during the raid, misleading the public about Trump’s handling of classified information. Former Trump lawyer Timothy Parlatore suggested that the case was tainted by prosecutorial misconduct and could be grounds for dismissal.
Judge Aileen Cannon postponed the documents trial indefinitely due to outstanding issues related to classified evidence, dealing a blow to Democrats and Trump critics hoping for a trial before the election. Trump supporters believe that the handling of the case has been biased and flawed from the beginning.
