New York City’s Mayor Eric Adams headed to Italy to meet with Pope Francis on Friday. He shared a video from the airplane runway sporting a New York Knicks hat and a Brooklyn youth basketball league sweatshirt. Adams emphasized the importance of working together to solve issues facing the city, country, and planet.

The trip, funded by the Fratelli Tutti Foundation, established by Pope Francis in 2021, will include a World Meeting on Human Fraternity. Topics for discussion include the economy, infrastructure, climate change, immigration, asylum-seekers, affordable housing, and sustainability. Notable attendees will include Nobel Prize winners, Italian national football team coach Luciano Spalletti, Fiat CEO Olivier Francois, and country musician Garth Brooks.
