A massive manhunt is ongoing in southern Kentucky as authorities continue to search for 32-year-old Joseph Couch, who is accused of shooting at 12 vehicles on Interstate 75 on Saturday. The incident left five people wounded, although none of the injuries are life-threatening.
Kentucky State Trooper Scottie Pennington addressed the media for the second consecutive day, providing an update on the search efforts. He emphasized the challenges of searching the vast woodland area, but reassured the public that authorities are working tirelessly to apprehend Couch.
The search area remains focused on the Rockcastle River area, where Couch is believed to be hiding. Authorities are urging citizens to avoid the area until Couch is found. The manhunt has been bolstered by additional aerial support from outside agencies, increasing the chances of locating Couch.
A 911 call from the incident revealed a frantic caller reporting that his car had been shot at and at least one woman was wounded. The FBI, ATF, and Kentucky State Police are all involved in the search, with the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office also assisting.
A $25,000 reward has been offered for information leading to Couch’s capture. Authorities are hoping that the lack of food and water in the wilderness will eventually force Couch to surrender.
