Trump Pledges to Crack Down on Election Cheating, Promises ‘Consequences’

Former President Donald Trump has issued a stern warning to those who may attempt to cheat in the upcoming presidential election, threatening to pursue legal action and jail time for those who engage in “rampant cheating and skullduggery.” In a post on Truth Social, Trump claimed that he and his team of attorneys and legal scholars are closely monitoring the 2024 election to prevent a repeat of the alleged cheating that occurred in the 2020 presidential election.

Trump’s comments come as he ramps up his campaign for the presidency, with a recent rally in Mosinee, Wisconsin, where he reiterated his claim that the 2020 election was stolen. “We got to stop the cheating,” he told the crowd. “If we stop that cheating, if we don’t let them cheat, we’re going to win by so much.”

The former president’s threat of legal action is not limited to individual voters, but also extends to “Lawyers, Political Operatives, Donors, Illegal Voters, & Corrupt Election Officials.” Trump has long claimed that the 2020 election was marred by widespread cheating and has repeatedly called for greater scrutiny of the electoral process.

Trump’s comments are in line with the Republican Party’s focus on election integrity this season. In July, the House of Representatives passed the SAVE Act, a bill that seeks to prevent noncitizens from voting by requiring proof of citizenship before registering to vote. The bill was introduced by House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) and Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) after Johnson met with Trump to discuss election integrity concerns.

As the 2024 election season heats up, Trump’s comments are likely to add fuel to the fire, with many of his supporters already convinced that the electoral process is rigged against them. Whether Trump’s threats of legal action will have any impact on the outcome of the election remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: the former president is determined to make election integrity a central issue in his campaign.
