The House Committee on Education & The Workforce, led by Chairwoman Virginia Foxx (R-NC), has issued a subpoena to Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, seeking records related to the largest COVID-19 fraud scheme in the country.
In a cover letter accompanying the subpoena, Foxx emphasized Walz’s role as the chief executive of the state and his responsibility for the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) and its administration of Federal Child Nutrition Programs (FCNPs). Foxx noted that public statements made by Walz and his representatives suggest that he and other executive officers were involved in or had knowledge of the MDE’s administration of the FCNP and its handling of the massive fraud.
The Committee is seeking records from Walz’s office as part of its investigation into the COVID-19 fraud scheme, which is believed to be the largest in the country. In addition to the subpoena issued to Walz, the Committee has also sent subpoenas to the U.S. Department of Agriculture and its Office of Inspector General.
