Senator JD Vance of Ohio unleashed a scathing attack on former Representative Liz Cheney, criticizing her endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris and accusing both women of profiting from America’s military failures. Vance made the remarks during a conversation with Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk in Arizona, where he described Cheney as a career politician who has consistently sent others’ children to fight and die in foreign conflicts.
Vance claimed that Cheney and Harris have a vested interest in America’s military losses, stating that they “get rich” when the country fails to win wars. He argued that this approach is in stark contrast to the values of former President Donald Trump, who Vance believes is committed to American strength, security, and peace.
Kirk chimed in, noting that Cheney’s endorsement of Harris is part of a larger trend of “failed warmongers” in Washington supporting the vice president. He posited that true peacemakers, on the other hand, are backing Trump and Vance. Vance agreed, citing the biblical phrase “blessed are the peacemakers” and asserting that Harris and Cheney are on the opposite side of that equation.
Vance’s comments came in response to Cheney’s recent announcement that she would be voting for Harris in the upcoming presidential election, citing concerns about Trump’s leadership. However, Vance was unforgiving, suggesting that Cheney’s entire career has been built on sending others’ children to fight and die in wars that have failed to achieve their objectives.
He also ridiculed Cheney’s past claims that Harris is a “radical liberal,” pointing out the hypocrisy of her endorsement. Vance further noted that Cheney has a history of criticizing Trump, including accusations that he incited the mob during the January 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol.
Vance’s remarks reflect a deepening divide within the Republican Party, with some members like Cheney openly opposing Trump’s candidacy and others, like Vance, fiercely defending him.
