IDF Uncovers Hamas Tunnel with Transportation Rail in Gaza

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Tuesday that its soldiers had uncovered a railway track within a Hamas tunnel in northern Gaza, as part of its ongoing efforts to dismantle the terrorist organization’s underground infrastructure.

According to the IDF, troops from the Engineering Unit of the Gaza Division and the Northern Gaza Brigade, in collaboration with the Yahalom Unit, discovered and destroyed a Hamas attack tunnel route in the Beit Lahia area. The tunnel, which exceeded one kilometer in length, was identified and investigated over the past few weeks based on prior intelligence information.

The IDF reported that the destroyed tunnel route contained various military equipment, including weapons and electrical infrastructure, as well as a transportation rail system. The discovery is part of a broader Israeli effort to destroy Hamas’s extensive tunnel network, which is believed to stretch for hundreds of miles beneath the Gaza Strip.

Some of the tunnels discovered so far have been large enough to accommodate vehicles, including a smuggling tunnel found near the Gaza-Egypt border in Rafah. The IDF suspects that some of the remaining Israeli hostages are being held captive within the tunnel network, which has been a key focus of the military’s operations in Gaza.
