Edward Norton has been chosen to step in for Benedict Cumberbatch in the upcoming Bob Dylan biopic “A Complete Unknown,” produced by Searchlight Pictures and James Mangold, as reported by Deadline. Norton, known for his roles in “Primal Fear” and “American History X,” will portray Pete Seeger in the film. The cast also includes Timothée Chalamet as Bob Dylan and Elle Fanning as Dylan’s love interest. The movie, directed by Mangold, is scheduled to start filming in New York in March.

The biopic will focus on a significant moment in music history in 1965 when Bob Dylan controversially shifted to playing the electric guitar. Fanning’s character, Sylvie Russo, is depicted as an artist and university student who becomes romantically linked with Dylan in the early 1960s. The script for the film was written by Jay Cocks, known for “Gangs of New York,” with Mangold overseeing script revisions. The production team includes various industry veterans.

Norton, who has recently been involved in several projects, was last featured in Wes Anderson’s “Asteroid City.” He also appeared alongside Daniel Craig in Rian Johnson’s “Glass Onion.” Norton’s casting in “A Complete Unknown” has heightened anticipation for the film.
