During an interview on CNN’s “The Source,” Senator Bernie Sanders weighed in on the situation in Rafah, where Hamas fighters were present and holding hostages.
Sanders acknowledged the difficulty of the issue, stating that while it’s important to go after Hamas, it is equally important not to decimate the entire population of the region.
He commended President Biden for threatening to withhold weapons from Israel if they entered Rafah’s population centers but suggested going even further by halting all financial support if Israel continues with the destructive war.
When asked about differing perspectives on the matter, Sanders emphasized the need to address Hamas while also maintaining respect for the lives and infrastructure of the people in Gaza.
