Michigan Senate hopeful Mike Rogers, endorsed by former President Donald Trump, took aim at Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz on Tuesday, accusing them of pushing policies that will relegate America to second-tier status.
Speaking at a rally for Sen. JD Vance in Michigan, Rogers criticized the Democrats for touting their achievements while ignoring the country’s downward spiral. “The Democrats love to tout their ‘firsts’,” Rogers said, “but I’d like to highlight a few ‘firsts’ of their own making.”
Rogers rattled off a list of what he called the Democrats’ dubious achievements, including the first time the US has imported more food than it exports, the first time foreign automakers have produced more cars in the US than domestic manufacturers, and the first time interest payments on the national debt have surpassed the Department of Defense budget.
He also pointed out that Americans’ credit card debt has ballooned to over $1 trillion for the first time in history. “This is a recipe for disaster, a plan to make America last,” Rogers declared.
Rogers blasted President Joe Biden and Harris for their handling of the economy and their alleged interference in the election process. He cited recent revelations from Mark Zuckerberg, who admitted that the government had pressured tech companies to censor conservative viewpoints.
Rogers also took aim at his Democratic opponent, Rep. Elissa Slotkin, accusing her of dishonesty and supporting policies that harm the country. He criticized her votes to allow non-citizens to vote in US elections, against border security measures, and in favor of amnesty for undocumented immigrants.
“This is not the Democratic Party of old,” Rogers warned. “They’ve veered sharply to the left, giving us open borders, rising crime, and unaffordable food and gas prices. They’re like political cicadas, only emerging at election time to make empty promises.”
Rogers vowed to fight against the Democrats’ agenda and work with Trump and Vance to take the country in a new direction. “We need to tell the Democrats that we won’t let them lurch America to the left and steal hope from future generations,” he said to applause. “With your help, I’ll go to the Senate and fight for the values that made America great.”
