The third day of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago will feature a keynote address by Vice Presidential nominee Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN), who will expand on the night’s theme, “A Fight for Our Freedoms.”
According to DNC officials, Walz will highlight his commitment to defending the fundamental freedoms of Americans, a theme that is central to the Harris-Walz ticket. The DNC statement noted that Vice President Kamala Harris has spent her career fighting for Americans’ freedoms, and that Gov. Walz is a champion for working families and a staunch defender of those freedoms.
In contrast, the DNC statement accused former President Donald Trump of spending his time in office trying to strip away Americans’ rights, and claimed that he is running on an extreme agenda to further erode those freedoms.
Wednesday’s schedule will also include several caucus and council meetings at McCormick Place, as well as a daily press conference with Harris campaign and DNC officials. However, there are no officially permitted protests planned for the day, although pro-Gaza activists are expected to continue gathering near and around satellite DNC programming.
Meanwhile, the Trump campaign will hold a counter-programming press conference at Trump Tower, featuring Rep. Mike Waltz (R-FL), a vocal Trump supporter and the first Green Beret to be elected to Congress. Waltz will field questions on Trump’s national security platform.
As the convention enters its final stretch, the parties will continue to ramp up their activities. Wednesday’s events will include a riverboat cruise and reception hosted by the Maryland Democratic Delegation, as well as a Drag Show hosted by Drag PAC.
