Miss USA 2023, Noelia Voigt, has stepped down from her title, citing the need to prioritize her mental health. In an Instagram post, Voigt emphasized the importance of valuing one’s well-being and making decisions that are best for oneself. She expressed gratitude for her pageantry journey and the support she received.

Voigt, who made history as the first Venezuelan American woman to be crowned Miss USA, announced her resignation from the title, stating that it was a tough decision. The Miss USA organization has respected and supported her decision, acknowledging the importance of prioritizing the well-being of its titleholders.

The resignation has sparked a conversation about mental health among pageant winners, especially in light of the tragic passing of Miss USA 2019, Chelsie Kryst, who died by suicide. Kryst’s mother, April Simpkins, has since published a posthumous memoir that sheds light on the pressures faced by pageant winners.

Voigt’s decision to step down has garnered support from her loved ones, including her mother, who expressed relief at seeing her daughter regain her true self. The Miss USA organization is now reviewing plans for a successor to take over the title, with an announcement expected soon.
