Rep. Ivey: Kamala Harris Can Ride Wave of Momentum Without News Conferences

Rep. Glenn Ivey (D-MD) believes that 2024 Democratic presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harris is effectively dominating the media landscape, and for now, she can focus on rallying her supporters rather than engaging in news conferences and interviews.

On Friday’s broadcast of Bloomberg’s “Balance of Power,” Ivey argued that Harris’s campaign is gaining momentum, and her opponents are struggling to keep up. He pointed out that former President Donald Trump recently held a press conference in an attempt to regain attention, but it was clear that his campaign is feeling the pressure.

Ivey also noted that Trump’s running mate, Sen. JD Vance, had been following Harris’s campaign closely, but ultimately, their efforts to counter her message have been unsuccessful. “They’re a little desperate and confused about how to go forward with the message,” Ivey said.

When asked if Harris needs to hold a news conference to address questions from the media, Ivey replied that there will be plenty of time for that later. For now, he believes that Harris’s focus on introducing herself and her vice presidential candidate to voters in battleground states is the right strategy.

Ivey emphasized that Harris’s high-energy events and rallies are effective in generating excitement and momentum for her campaign. He thinks that she can continue to ride this wave of enthusiasm going forward, and that there will be opportunities for her to engage in more traditional media appearances later on.
