MTG reveals requests for Johnson as potential motion to dismiss approaches

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Republican from Georgia, has put forward a list of demands to House Speaker Mike Johnson, threatening to remove him from his leadership position if he does not comply. Despite meeting with Johnson for two hours on Monday to discuss her motion to vacate, it is unclear whether Greene will withdraw the motion if her requests are met. The demands include withholding aid to Ukraine, passing appropriations bills in individual votes, following the Hastert rule, and cutting funding for the Justice Department’s special counsel investigating former President Donald Trump.

Greene is scheduled to meet with Johnson again on Tuesday, but Johnson has indicated he will not negotiate on her demands. Some GOP members are hesitant about Johnson offering any deals to Greene, with concerns about setting a precedent for separate arrangements for key matters. Greene’s decision on whether to proceed with the motion to vacate will depend on the outcome of the second meeting with Johnson and Rep. Thomas Massie from Kentucky.

Overall, Greene is firm in her stance, saying there is no middle ground or compromise on her demands.
