Activists flying the Palestinian flag protested the annual Holocaust remembrance event at the Auschwitz-Birkenau death camps on Monday. The event, known as the ‘March of the Living,’ saw thousands of attendees, including Holocaust survivors and relatives of victims of Hamas attacks. The protesters shouted slogans and confronted marchers, prompting organizers to stress the importance of Holocaust education and remembrance.

Despite the loud protest, the official event overshadowed the demonstrators, with only nine activists shouting at around 8,000 attendees. The protesters accused Israel of causing another genocide and expressed their opposition to war and genocide. The counter-protest highlighted the tensions and complexities surrounding the Holocaust remembrance event.
