Russia Accuses Ukraine of Large-Scale Border Incursion

A reported Ukrainian incursion into Russian territory has sparked a fierce response from Moscow, with claims of a large-scale assault across the border into the Kursk region. The alleged attack, if confirmed, would mark the most significant Ukrainian incursion into Russian territory since the conflict began.

According to Russian state media, at least five people have lost their lives and over two dozen have been wounded in the violence. Russian President Vladimir Putin has convened an emergency meeting with top government officials to address the situation, tasking First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov with coordinating relief efforts for affected residents.

Putin has characterized the incident as a “brazen provocation,” alleging that Ukrainian forces have engaged in indiscriminate firing on civilian targets, including residential buildings, ambulances, and other non-military sites. The Russian Ministry of Defense claims that up to 300 Ukrainian troops, backed by tanks and armored vehicles, were involved in the assault.

Regional officials have expressed alarm over the situation, with Igor Artamonov, governor of the neighboring Lipetsk region, warning of a second day of attacks on Russia’s borders. “The Kyiv regime is targeting our borders,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian authorities have maintained a public silence on the reported attack, declining to comment on the allegations.
