Texas A&M has parted ways with head football coach Jimbo Fischer after a six-year tenure, resulting in a $76 million payout for Fischer. The decision to fire Fischer comes after a 51-10 win over Mississippi State, bringing Texas A&M’s record to 6-4 for the season. Fischer took on the head coaching position at Texas A&M in 2018 after a successful stint at Florida State, where he won a national championship in 2014. While Texas A&M managed to achieve a 9-4 record in 2018, the team has struggled in the past two seasons, resulting in Fischer’s departure. Fischer’s contract included a massive buyout clause worth $76 million, which is now owed to him by Texas A&M. The Aggies will conclude their regular season with games against Abilene Christian University and top-25 LSU.
