The publisher of South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem’s book, ‘No Going Back,’ has announced the removal of a passage concerning her meeting with Kim Jong Un. Center Street, the publisher, confirmed the removal at Governor Noem’s request. Noem, speaking on Face the Nation, acknowledged making edits to the book after the issue was brought to her attention. Noem’s spokesperson stated that the mention of Kim Jong Un was an error and would be corrected.

The book has generated controversy, particularly over a section where Noem described killing a dog named Cricket. This anecdote has upset many dog lovers and may have damaged her chances of being Donald Trump’s running mate. Another passage in the book, in which Noem claimed to have stared down Kim Jong Un, has also raised eyebrows.

Noem previously served in the House of Representatives and on the House Armed Services Committee. Despite her claims of meeting Kim Jong Un, there is no record of any Congressional delegation trip to North Korea during her time on the committee.
