Microsoft Unveils Designer: AI Image Generation on Web, Mobile, and Windows

Microsoft has launched its AI-powered image generation platform, Designer, after a prolonged preview phase. The tool is now accessible to users with a Microsoft account, available on the web, mobile devices (iOS and Android), and Windows. Designer enables users to create a new visual from scratch or edit existing images. A range of templates is available to guide the creation of common image types, such as greeting cards, wallpapers, and profile avatars. Experienced artists can build from scratch, developing their own templates and incorporating their own art.

While Designer can be used independently, Microsoft is emphasizing its integration with other services. Designer images can be easily linked to Microsoft Word and PowerPoint projects. However, to fully utilize this integration, a subscription is required.

For those familiar with Canva, Designer’s user experience will feel similar, with a comparable approach. Designer also incorporates AI options. According to Microsoft’s initial announcement in 2022, Designer is integrated with OpenAI’s image generator DALL-E and Copilot DALL-E 3. Additionally, it syncs with ChatGPT 4 Turbo, making seamless connections with existing services.
