Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) predicts that former President Donald Trump will announce his running mate in the next two months. Scott, who previously ran for the GOP presidential nomination, shared his belief on Meet The Press that Trump will make the announcement around early July, closer to the start of the Republican National Convention on July 15 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
During a recent interview with a local Fox affiliate in Wisconsin, Trump mentioned that the decision on his running mate will be made closer to the convention. Several potential vice presidential candidates, including Rep. Elise Stefanik (NY-R), Sen. Marcus Rubio (FL-R), Rep. Byron Donalds (FL-R), Sen. JD Vance (OH-R), and Gov. Doug Burgum (ND-R), were present at the Republican National Committee’s spring retreat over the weekend.
Scott anticipates a decision from Trump within the next 60 days. Although the topic did not come up during their interactions at the GOP donor retreat in West Palm Beach, Scott emphasized the importance of Trump’s decision on a running mate.
In response to questions about accepting the results of the 2024 presidential election, Scott remained firm in his support for Trump, stating that he believes Trump will be the 47th president of the United States. When pressed further by Kristen Welker, Scott reiterated his commitment to Trump’s potential presidency.
