Two suspects have been apprehended in connection with a botched robbery attempt in Rancho Santa Margarita, Orange County, on July 2. According to authorities, a victim reported being approached by a female suspect who emerged from a parked vehicle with arms outstretched for a hug, before attempting to snatch a gold chain from his neck.
Following a thorough investigation, law enforcement officials identified the same suspects as possible perpetrators of similar incidents in Orange County and surrounding areas. On July 3, the OCSD’s South Directed Enforcement team, aided by investigators from the Rancho Santa Margarita Station, located and apprehended the two suspects.
During a subsequent search of the suspects’ vehicles, authorities recovered approximately 50 pieces of jewelry belonging to various victims. Additionally, a third suspect was arrested in an unrelated robbery, although details of the incident remain undisclosed.
In light of these incidents, authorities are warning residents to remain vigilant and cautious of strangers approaching them, regardless of the reason.
