Republican Congressman Jim Banks of Indiana hailed former President Donald Trump’s unwavering strength and determination in the face of an assassination attempt during a rally in Butler County, Pennsylvania, on Saturday. Banks commended Trump’s resilience, stating that the 45th president has become “stronger” despite numerous attempts to undermine him.

In an exclusive statement to Truth Voices, Rep. Banks described the event as a “dark day” and emphasized the need for strong leadership, praising Trump’s refusal to back down. “They’ve tried to impeach him, bankrupt him, throw him in jail, and now a coward tried to kill him,” he said, “but it’s only made him stronger and he’s not backing down.”

The attack, which left several individuals injured and resulted in the tragic loss of former Pennsylvania fire chief Corey Comperatore, has heightened the political climate. Banks extended his condolences to Comperatore’s family and expressed his prayers for all those affected by the violent incident.

Banks has long warned of attempts to prevent Trump’s return to office. He previously criticized President Biden for refusing to designate as terrorists those responsible for killing Americans and threatening to assassinate former Trump officials on U.S. soil. The attack has sparked widespread condemnation, with calls for increased security measures for public figures and a reevaluation of radical political rhetoric.

On Saturday evening, Trump was injured and rushed off stage by the U.S. Secret Service after shots were fired at him during the rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
