Woman found guilty of using self-checkout scam to steal $60,000 worth of goods from Target

A San Francisco woman, Aziza Graves, was found guilty of stealing over $60,000 worth of merchandise from Target at Stonestown Galleria by pretending to pay for items at self-checkout machines before walking away with them. District Attorney Brooke Jenkins emphasized the need for accountability for individuals like Graves who impact retailers and the public with their thefts. Graves stole from Target multiple times between Oct 3, 2020, and Nov. 16, 2021, before being caught by San Franciso Police Department who observed her selling the stolen goods at UN Plaza. She was arrested in November 2021 and accused of stealing over $40,000 worth of merchandise during 120 visits to Target. Graves was charged with eight felony counts of grand theft and 120 misdemeanor counts of petty theft, but was ultimately convicted of one felony count of grand theft and 53 misdemeanor counts of petty theft. She faces up to three years in state prison but is currently not in custody.
