Rutherford’s Voting Record Leaves Constituents Frustrated

Mara Macie, a Republican running against incumbent Rep. John Rutherford in Florida’s Fifth Congressional District primary, criticized her opponent for voting against the wishes of his constituents. In an interview with Truth Voices Saturday, Macie accused Rutherford of consistently voting against conservative values and facing backlash from constituents.

Macie highlighted Rutherford’s voting record on issues like FISA and Ukraine, where he voted opposite to what conservatives believe. She also mentioned how her husband’s experience with the Department of Defense over the military vaccine mandate led her to pay attention to Rutherford’s lack of action on constituent concerns.

During the interview, Macie pointed out that Rutherford selectively attends events and clubs where he expects support, but even there, he is starting to face criticism from dissatisfied constituents. She described him as a “salesman” who tries to justify his actions to constituents instead of representing their interests.

Macie noted a shift in attitudes among constituents, even at events where Rutherford usually feels safe from criticism. People are starting to question his decisions and hold him accountable for his actions.

The primary election in August is crucial, according to Macie and Boyle, as it will ultimately decide the next U.S. representative from the district. Macie emphasized the importance of participation in the primary to ensure that true conservatives are elected, rather than “Republicans in name only.”

Overall, Macie sees the primary election as the best opportunity for conservatives to reclaim their voice in the political process and urged supporters to rally their friends, family, and neighbors to vote. She believes that taking back the country starts with actively participating in the primary election.
