A devastating scene unfolded early Thursday morning in the White Ash neighborhood of Columbus, Ohio, when a brave mother intervened in a carjacking attempt involving her six-year-old child. The dramatic events unfolded around 1:30 a.m. outside the White Oak Park Condominiums.
The mother, who had gone to the apartment complex to pick up her sleeping child, left the vehicle running to quickly grab the youngster’s belongings from inside the apartment. As she stepped back into the parking lot, a suspect leapt into the driver’s seat and began driving away with the mother’s child still asleep in the back seat.
Reacting swiftly, the mother jumped onto the hood of the car to try and stop the suspect, who began driving erratically throughout the complex. In the chaos, the mother was ultimately thrown off the hood, allowing the suspect to escape.
The mother was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was listed in critical condition. Meanwhile, the child was safely returned to the babysitter who had been watching him, and miraculously, he remained unharmed throughout the ordeal, sleeping peacefully as the drama unfolded.
