Biden Books Another Primetime Interview Amid Growing Pressure

President Joe Biden has scheduled another high-profile interview amidst mounting pressure from donors and Democratic lawmakers to withdraw from the presidential race. NBC Nightly News anchor Lester Holt will sit down with the President for a taped conversation, set to air on Monday, coinciding with the start of the Republican National Convention.

This latest appearance marks the second major television appearance since Biden’s June 27 debate performance, which sparked calls for him to step aside due to concerns about his mental and physical well-being. The President’s interview will be taped in Austin, Texas, following a similar sit-down with ABC News’s George Stephanopoulos last week, aimed at quelling concerns about his candidacy.

Biden’s former press secretary, Jen Psaki, described the President’s performance as “okay,” noting that he looked better than during the debate, but still had some “moments that did not go well.” The most notable example was Biden’s response when asked by Stephanopoulos how he would feel if he stayed in the race and then lost to former President Donald Trump.
